This Thursday evening at 8:45 pm, we will screen ‘DOC’ CROW: THE LEGEND OF JOHNNY 2-STRINGS. It will be the premiere of this “mockumentary” made by Alonzo and Aqua Jones, a married duo that splits their time between Columbus and Los Angeles. Most recently, they made an award-winning short entitled ELI’S LIQUOR STORE that can be seen here.
This presentation is part of an effort to help local, emerging filmmakers get their work in front of audiences. On Wednesday, August 21, at 9 pm, we will host Joey Firoben and his horror/thriller drama, DELIRIA. Joey is a recent Denison University grad who grew up in Newark.
Both projects began with a simple phone call to the Drexel, and we jumped at the chance to screen these two films. It was easy to see how much time and effort had gone into the finished product, and we know these films will appeal to our audiences.
We hope that people interested in film and film-making will come out to see these movies, and others that we will be scheduling in the coming weeks, to get a better understanding of the process and a clearer picture of the passion it takes to produce this art form. After both films, the producer/directors will be sitting down with the audience for a Q&A.
FUN FACT: In 2010, the Drexel Theatre hosted a premiere of HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE, Bexley native Josh Radnor’s first film. Josh. the star of CBS’s How I Met Your Mother, grew up watching movies at the Drexel.
